Advertising Gives Back

Overview-

All local Birmingham advertising agencies (large, medium or small) are invited to create and submit one full-color magazine ad promoting the nonprofit organization of their choice. The ads will be judged for creativity and effectiveness, and the Top 6 ads will be published, one per month, in Birmingham Magazine. Deadline for submission of entries is September 23, 2008 at 5 PM. A celebration of all participating Birmingham agencies will occur at AAF-Birmingham’s February luncheon. Awards will be presented in many categories besides the Top 6!

Details-

AAF Birmingham and Birmingham Magazine are sponsoring this competition/public service project. The non-profit organizations that benefit are not sponsoring this contest in any way.

One entry is allowed per agency. Deadline for entering ads is Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 5 PM Birmingham time. Please send your pdf entries electronically to bhamad@mindspring.com. There is NO FEE to enter this competition! Agencies are completely responsible for the creation, production and successful electronic transmission of their completed ad before the deadline. Recycling is a good thing, but not for this contest. Please submit only a newly created ad that has not appeared in print before. Send us your very best!

The Top 6 ads will appear in Birmingham Magazine. One ad will run each month from November through April. The ads will appear with a 2 inch strip across the bottom of the page that includes a quote from the advertising agency, the agency logo plus a statement from AAF Birmingham and Birmingham Magazine explaining the program to the public. Running order for the Top 6 ads will be determined by random drawing. Winners will not be announced until the AAF meeting in February, so each month’s ad will be a surprise to the public and the participating agencies. At the February meeting, awards will be presented for the Top 12, the Top 6, the Best of Show, the People's Choice, the Most Creative and other categories. Every agency that submits an entry will be recognized.

Judging. Judges will be 1) a representative from Birmingham Magazine, 2) a representative from AAF Birmingham, 3) a representative from the Advertising community at large in Birmingham and 4) two advertising representatives from outside of Birmingham.

Ad Specifications. The AAF Birmingham and Birmingham Magazine will run a 2” strip across the bottom of the page explaining the program. The Agency logo and a quote from the agency will appear in this strip along with logos of AAF Birmingham and Birmingham Magazine.
